About the event
High. Out. My journey to the people on the highest mountains in the world
The globetrotter Margot Flugel-Anhalt reports to the FörderFreunden in PS.SPEICHER about her adventurous trip to the Himalayas.
“Freedom is within you. Nowhere else” – this is what globetrotter Margot Flugel-Anhalt, born in Tuttlingen in 1953, is convinced of. At almost 70 years old, the trained social and theater teacher is fulfilling her dream. From her home village, the volunteer local leader sets off on a new adventure in her old Lada Niva: 22,000 kilometers to the highest road in the world, the Karakoram Highway in Pakistan, and back. Their longed-for destination is the Himalayan mountain giant Nanga Parbat, the legendary “mountain of fate of the Germans”.
With the old Lada, a bright red Hilleberg tent and a Thermarest mat for sub-zero temperatures, she is on the road again - as a woman who seems to know no limits. On the 1,284 km long international highway, the Karakoram Highway, she ventures through the mountains of the Karakoram and Himalayas.
So she follows her heart on a new adventure to the foot of Nanga Parbat to feel all the longings that lure mountaineers up there. She conquers unknown emotional territory and finally finds her way back to her homeland via the Balkan route.
On her long journey she witnesses the flood disaster in Pakistan and experiences oppression and violence. But also the hospitality of the people, freedom and the beauty of nature. It is the contrasts that make their journey so unique.
Entry costs €10; Supporting friends have free access. Tickets are availablehere, at PS.SPEICHER or at the box office. Spontaneous guests are of course welcome, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee a place.
