About the event
The renowned soloists Johanna Winkel and Hanno Müller-Brachmann were recruited for the soprano and baritone roles. The concert is kindly supported by the Sparkasse Göttingen and the AKB Foundation. The German Requiem by Johannes Brahms is without a doubt one of the best-known and most popular major works of choral symphony. This is an atypical requiem in every respect: usually the Latin text of the funeral mass is set to music in a requiem. In addition, the name or title of Jesus Christ as the bringer of salvation does not appear anywhere in Brahms.
In addition, Brahms is known to have had a distant relationship with the Christian church. However, the fact that he faced the big questions of life and wrestled with religious issues is also undisputed. Ultimately, he wanted to create a work with his Requiem that would provide consolation to those left behind. The indefinite article in “A German Requiem” can serve as an indication that Brahms sought to express an individual spirituality that is based on the Bible texts he selected on the subject of consolation and confidence.
Tickets arehere available as well as in PS.SPEICHER and at all known presale locations.
