About the event

A fireworks display of world music, between piano and percussion, Cuba and Morocco, awaits us this year at the start on the evening before the opening concert. Traditional Cuban music and Afro-Moroccan rhythms combine with contemporary European jazz and pop elements. Without a stage in the KULTURKRAFTSTUNDE format, which is compact in terms of time and space and can be experienced intensively, in the Cozy Forum of the PS.SPEICHER. An immediately thrilling musical experience from two world-class musicians.

The stages of the Cuban's careerMarialy Pacheco are impressive: She produced her debut album with Roberto Fonseca, the pianist of the legendary Ibrahim Ferrer (Buena Vista Social Club). In 2012 she became the first woman ever to receive the Montreux Jazz Festival Award. Rightly so! Because although her enthusiasm for Ruben Gonzales, Oscar Peterson and Keith Jarrett is noticeable in her own sounds: Marialy Pacheco conjures up something very unique and unique from the piano.

Percussionist and drummerRhani Krija, born in Essaouira/Morocco, is one of the world's most sought-after percussionists - in the jazz and world music scene, as well as in rock and pop. Due to his musical diversity and range, he has the ability to play any style authentically. Rhani Krija tours worldwide with stars such as Sting, Dominic Miller, Herbie Hancock, Al Di Meola, Placido Domingo, Annie Lennox, Xavier Naidoo and Herbert Grönemeyer.
