UV Damage

Like other plastic products, model cars are sensitive to direct sunlight. UV light can cause transparent plastic parts, such as windows, to become discoloured, while coloured parts can fade.

This model clearly shows which area has been exposed to sunlight.

UV light is not the only threat. Plasticisers in the material can also cause damage. Plastic bodies may warp and distort the entire model, while rubber tyres can shrink and crack.
