Cars produced in very large numbers in full size are not necessarily common as miniatures. The first-generation Fiat Panda is one example. More than four million were built between 1980 and 2003. In German advertising, it was known as the “tolle Kiste” – roughly, the “great little box”.

During this period, however, only a few model manufacturers, including Bburago and Mattel, offered a miniature Fiat Panda. As manufacturers tended to focus on sports and luxury cars, many everyday vehicles are difficult to find in miniature.
